NUC President and professor Shen Xingquan has been to the School of Humanities and Social Sciences(SHSS) for research and guidance of work, with leading group of SHSS, deans, heads of departments and departments of various disciplines, and representatives of young teachers in research symposium on morning of September 6, 2018.

At the symposium, SHSS leader and professor, Rui Yanping has introduced the basic situation, existing problems and future development plan of the school. Other heads of the school put forward their opinions and suggestions on the work of specialty adjustment, development of specialty characteristics, construction of specialty laboratories, introduction and training of talents, improvement of scientific research conditions and reform of teaching.

After the reports and discussions, President Shen responded to some of the difficulties and problems in running the school and suggested coordination of different branches of the university in operation. President Shen affirmed the great work done by the new leadership of the SHSS Academy since taking office, and felt gratifying changes in construction of software and hardware and spiritual outlook of the Academy. At the same time, President Shen also put forward new hopes and requirements for the college.

Meeting attendants say that they are inspired by President Shen's speech, actively devote to teaching and scientific research, constantly develop and strengthen humanities and social sciences, and benefit contributions to NUC development.
