To fully implement the Ministry of Education's National Standards for Undergraduate Professional Teaching Quality in Ordinary Colleges and Universities, further optimize the  talent cultivation program of the school of  Humanities and Social Sciences , and meliorate the quality of undergraduate talent cultivation, the school of humanities and Social Sciences will hold  the seminar of the English major talent cultivation program on April 13, 2019 in accordance with the unified requirements of the school. Regarding to the talent cultivation program, experts were invited to question and diagnose the seen problems in the past. In addition, the seminar exclusively had Ms. Chang Xiaoling (deputy editor-in-chief of the FLTRP), Professor Yan Zhijun (Dean of the School of Foreign Languages of Nanjing Normal University), Professor Dong Jianqiao  (Jiangnan University), Professor Dong Xiaorui (Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office of NUC) and Liu Wenyi (Associate Dean of the School of Instrument and Electronics of NUC) as expert reviewers. Prof. Rui Yanping, Dean of the School of Humanity and Science, Associate Professor Li Bingrong, the head master of English major, and key teachers of English major also attended the seminar, which was hosted by Du Gang, Associate Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Having been conducted in the form of professional reports plus expert reviews, the seminar explicitly presented  the reports with comprehensively detailed, clear and distinctive accumulation, while head master for EM straightened out focusing on major positioning, curriculum designing, etc. The experts wholly corroborated the abundant achievements of EM within more than 20 years in all respects through mindful reviews and repeated researches, based on the school-running targets in NUC and employment-oriented goals for the EM undergraduates during the new era . Simultaneously ,the exposed problems in the talent cultivation program are also proposed, along with several constructive remarks and suggestions.

At the end of the seminar, the attending teachers of EM told that  they all  has  clearly crystallized the directions , clarified the ideas of talent cultivation, ameliorated the characteristics of EM’s education, and enhanced the belief in perfecting the major’s future establishments. In advance of bettering the school-running ability and cultivating more fresh well-knit foreign language talents with diathesis and applicable capabilities, the EM department will carefully comprehend and deepen the valuable opinions and suggestions raised by the expert group on the basis of further improving the revision of 2019 in the talent cultivation program, so that the graduates can well serve national and local socioeconomic development in the near future.
